There are numerous articles in the media about healthy diets and what we should be doing to improve our health. Furthermore, there are many news stories suggesting that dairy products should be kept to a minimum in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, with some even suggesting the removal of dairy products completely.
In a recent study woman that drink two large glasses of milk a day after training with weights, gained extra muscle and lost further body fat. In contrast to those who exercised and then drank a popular sugar based energy drink.
The majority of women avoid weight training and are likely to keep away from dairy products based on the idea that dairy foods are high in calories and aid weight gain. And so a previous study that showed milk had a similar effect in increasing muscle mass and fat loss in men after weight training was different.
The size of the weight loss throughout the study was surprising. However the cause of this weight loss is still unexplained. The initial findings suggest that it could be the natural ingredients including the combination of calcium, high-quality protein, and vitamin D which are aiding the weight loss.
The study also monitored woman that did not partake in weight resistance training. The women did not consume anything before training except water; however one hour after training one group consumed 500ml of fat free milk, the other group consumed 500ml of a sugar-based energy drink.
The findings of this study showed that the group drinking milk after exercise did not gain weight, perhaps due to the fact the amount of muscle put on was balanced out with the amount of fat loss. Fromm this, a conclusion has been drawn that suggests dairy products can actually form part of a healthy diet and aid weight loss.
Now is the time to take advantage of an affordable health plan as it means you will always have help with the cost of remaining healthy. Health plans are a good idea if you require basic cover for your day to day health care.
